The main objective of launching this scheme is that at present there are about 42 crore unorganized workers in India, who are facing various problems due to lack of money in their family. That is why the Government of India has launched a pension scheme tailored to the needs of unorganized workers where they will get a good amount of financial benefits every month.
The main objective of launching the PM-SYM scheme is to provide old age social security coverage to unorganized workers. This scheme has been launched to ensure that unorganized workers do not face any difficulty for their livelihood after retirement.
Another main objective of launching this scheme is to encourage the culture of savings among unorganized workers which will increase their financial support after the age of 60, thereby increasing their financial independence and stability.
Another objective of the PM-SYM scheme is to reduce the dependence of unorganized workers on their family or any external support system in old age. Due to which they will reduce the burden of maintaining him on his family next year.

At present, there are about 42 crore unorganized workers in India. All the workers included in the category of unorganized workers can apply for this scheme and get the benefits of this scheme.
Unorganized workers who are generally employed as street vendors, head loaders, home-based workers, bricklayers, rickshaw pullers, washermen, householders, afternoon workers, cobblers, garbage pickers, self-accountants, landless workers, weavers, leather workers, audio-visual workers or laborers working in other similar occupations, agricultural laborers, construction workers, beedi workers, weaving laborers, all of them can apply for this scheme and get all the benefits of the scheme.
PM Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana Eligibility

- To apply for this scheme, applicants must be unorganized workers.
- The monthly income of the applicant worker should be Rs 15,000 or less.
- The age of the applicant worker should not be less than 18 years and not more than 40 years.
- The amount to be deposited per month can be more or less according to the age of the applicant worker i.e. between the age of 18 years to 40 years, the monthly contribution should be between Rs 55 to Rs 200 per month till the applicant reaches the age of 60 years.
- The applicant will get a pension of Rs 3,000 per month from the next month of turning 60 years old.
- The applicant worker must have an Aadhaar card.
- The applicant must have a savings bank account or Jan Dhan account number.
- No tax will be payable to the applicant.
- The applicant worker should not belong to or be a member of any organized sector (EPFO/NPS/ESIC).
